Who is the writer, painter, and jewelry designer Mara N Machado?
Mara N. Machado: Biography and Creative Journey
Mara N. Machado was born in Lages, Santa Catarina, daughter of engineer Ornélio Machado and Mara Regina Machado. From childhood, she was encouraged by her family to explore drawing and painting, finding her greatest aesthetic reference in Salvador Dalí's works at the age of 9 in Rio de Janeiro.
Education and Professional Career
Currently a public servant, Mara balances her administrative career with a solid academic and technical background. Her trajectory includes studies in Interior Ornamentation and Art History in Porto Alegre, as well as attending the Federal University of Roraima (UFRR) for Social Anthropology, Law, and Civil Engineering courses. As a student leader, she stood out in defending indigenous causes, participating in symposiums on the demarcation of Raposa Serra do Sol.
Jewelry Design and Gemology
In 2000, in Brasília, she specialized in jewelry design at the Museum of Gems (UnB/SEBRAE partnership) with artist Joana Campelo. Her pursuit of technical improvement led her to study Gemology, lapidary, and jewelry with masters such as Júnior Olivieri and Fernando Mundim, in addition to undertaking wax modeling training at the renowned Mário Ferreira studio in Lisbon.
Fine Arts: The "Continuity" Collection
After a long period in Europe, Mara settled in Florianópolis in 2011. In 2017, following the loss of her father, she found in therapy the vital impulse to resume painting. What was once a hobby solidified as her primary expression under the title Continuity — the name that baptizes her entire body of canvas works. Her paintings use acrylic and oil techniques, exploring the balance between geometric forms and the continuity of life experiences.
Literary Career
In 2024, Mara expanded her creative universe into literature, publishing two significant works through Editora Insular and on Amazon:
The Last Invincible Steps
The Cats Samel and their Friend Puhyel
